US Launch and Price Details for 3DS

It is now official!  Japan has already known about their launch date and pricing but now the U.S. knows it will be getting the 3D camera equipped, glasses-free Nintendo 3DS on March 27th for $249.99.

I got the opportunity to play the 3DS at the Nintendo World 2011 event and this is great news to hear.  The new Nintendo portable feels familiar yet has more gaming power then it’s younger sibling.  Of the games I played at the Japan show; Super Street Fighter IV 3D, Steel Diver, Kid Icarus: Uprising, and Pilotwings Resort we’re my top favorites.  At this price point I feel Nintendo will be very successful.  I was actually afraid the system would reach $300 or more, and at that price many people may have passed on it during launch.

Previously GameStop was only taking reserves but appears Amazon has now opened up the doors to pre-orders also.

Here is the full list of launch titles announced for the US

  • Super Street Fighter IV 3D
  • Pilotwings Resort
  • Nintendogs + Cats
  • Steel Diver
  • Resident Evil: The Mercenaries
  • Dead or Alive
  • Ridge Racer 3D
  • Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 3D
  • Madden NFL
  • Asphalt 3D
  • Combat of Giants: Dinosaurs 3D
  • LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars

Like any console launch there are some obvious 1st picks and then there’s the rest.  I’ll be interested to see the NPD’s this April.
