Microsoft announces “Arcade NEXT”
Microsoft is gearing up for its next slew of games for Xbox Live Arcade this spring and with it will also come something new. Ever since the inception of the Arcade program, Microsoft has held standard requirements for all arcade games. Come April those standards will change, with all new XBLA games now including up to 400 Gamerscore and 30 Achievements to unlock.
The first of these games to carry this new standard will be the much anticipated sequel to Trials HD, Trials Evolution. This new edition of the skill game will feature night and day courses, online multiplayer, and an in-game track editor where you can share and download other players tracks using the ‘Track Central’. Trials Evolution will be available April 18th for 1200 Microsoft Points.
Then comes a game filled with a little more gore, Bloodforge. From the looks of this one there will be a lot of killing of demons as you control ‘Crom’ a character seeking revenge. With a story set in Celtic mythology and a robust melee combat system, this game seems like it will offer a lot for fans of games like Darksiders and God of War. Bloodforge will be available April 25th for 1200 Microsoft Points.
After the bloodbath comes a more light-hearted action title, Fable Heroes. Up to four players can hack-and-slash through different areas of the re-imagined Albion while collecting coins. These coins will not only level up your character but will unlock items in the upcoming title Fable: The Journey. Fable Heroes will be available May 2nd for 800 Microsoft Points.
And the final title on the list, a game announced last year at E3 and that has millions of players already on PC, Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition. Everything you love about the PC phenomenon now wrapped up for consoles with online and split-screen modes for co-op play. Bring on the creepers. Minecraft will be available for 1600 Microsoft Points on May 9th.
