Lots of Zombies roaming the floor but, Where are the Plants?

12:30pm – A little trouble getting to PAX East today due to the crappy weather in Boston but were here and ready to go. We had a brief look of Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon and a walk through with the Senior Producer. Check for that video post later.

1:50pm – Played some demos of Warp and FEZ for XBLA, PSN and PC. Both great looking games. Warp is a Sci-fi stealth action game where you play an prisoner alien that can warp. FEZ is a unique puzzle platformer in 2D/3D hybrid style with pixel art and 8-bit soundtrack. No release dates for these yet.

2:30pm – Slam Bolt Scrappers is back again at PAX, only 4 days before their release on the PSN. The game will sell for $14.99 and a lot more has been added since last year. Co-op campaign, lots of multiplayer modes, team battle, and a ton of power ups to keep your enemies towers destroyed.

3:30pm – Played both Jimmie Johnson’s Anything with an Engine and Skullgirls. AwaE was a great kart racer with influences from Mario Kart. They set to fix the rubberbanding effect by opening up shortcuts to those that are behind, but still requires skill. Skullgirls is a 2D fighter with amazing visuals. Artwork was drawn at twice the resolution and then scaled down and can even use dynamic lighting. Fighting style is like Street Fighter but with gameplay elements that fix things like infinite combos and ease of entry for novices.

5:00pm – We headed to the Meet and Greet for NCSoft and got some hands on time with Guild Wars 2.  The gameplay was smooth and definitely had hints of an MMO but gave a lot of freedom to play solo, at least at the early levels.  The story is rich and should be exciting for fans of the first Guild Wars.

6:30pm – Rounding out the evening is some interviews and dinner.  We’ll be back tomorrow with more info from the show floor as well as a few panels.
