Zelda vs. Zelda
Many of us out there in videogame world hold a special place in our heart containers for the Legend of Zelda franchise. Recently Nintendo has given us a chance to experience Link and all his adventures in different forms.
Zelda form one is, as I like to call it, adult grown up Link. These are the games that feature our hero in adult form graphically looking very good a la Twilight Princess and the recently announced Skyward Sword. This version of Link usually is on par with today’s videogame heroes. And he usually has his trusty steed Epona with him to help traverse the landscape of Hyrule.
Zelda form two, as I like to call it, is cartoony Link. This Link is the more childish looking Link. He usually features cell shaded graphics and prefers to ride around in a boat or train. As many of you may have figured out this is the Link from Wind Waker or the more recent Spirit Tracks.
Whichever of these versions you prefer (or maybe you like both), one thing stands clear. That is, this franchise is truly unique and it continues to transcend time using the Ocarina of time of course (just kidding). Zelda is a franchise that finds ways to innovate constantly even though it is basically the same game over and over again. Zelda is a franchise that has withstood the sands of time and will continue to do so.
